I’m THANKFUL to be THANKFUL!!
There is a subtle trap that comes with the passing of time. As the years roll on, society whispers that it is time to step back, hand off the baton, and fade quietly into the background. We are tempted to trade purpose for passive rest, assuming our most impactful seasons are behind us.
Our age is not an excuse to step down; it is our platform to step up.
Now, more than ever, perseverance and determination matter. The world around us does not need fewer seasoned believers—it needs men and women who refuse to quit, who demonstrate what decades of walked-out faith actually look like.
The Power of a Living Legacy
Your endurance in this season is not just about your personal journey. Your faithfulness directly impacts the next generation.
Younger generations are watching how we navigate difficulty, fatigue, and uncertainty. When they see us stand firm, they learn how to stand. When they witness our grit in the face of temptation to give up, they find the courage to keep going themselves.
God calls us to keep reaching out, sharing His love, and pouring into others—regardless of the number on our birth certificate. Retirement from a career is a natural part of life, but there is no retirement from the mission of God.
Swap the Wish to Quit for Holy Grit
When weariness sets in and the temptation to coast becomes strong, we don’t need comfort—we need grit. Spiritual grit is the holy determination to keep moving forward when stepping back would be easier. It is the deep conviction that as long as we have breath, God has a purpose for our presence.
Living with this kind of intentionality builds a lasting legacy of faith that outlives us.
Pressing Forward: The Promise of Psalm 71
The psalmist captures this lifelong calling beautifully in Psalm 71:17–18:
“Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.”
Psalm 71 is a rallying cry to keep pressing forward. It reminds us that our story is still being written and that our testimony is needed right now.
Keep Pressing On
Whatever season you find yourself in today, don’t quit. Refuse to let weariness convince you that your best work for the Kingdom is over. Get some grit, lean into His grace, and keep reaching others with His love.
